Losing a pet to cancer is one of the hardest things a person has to deal with. It's heartbreaking to watch your best friend fade because of something they didn't deserve. You can see the pain in their eyes and you feel helpless against it. I personally have faced this disease twice and both times my furry children fought a hard battle but eventually their little bodies couldn't take it anymore. So no one else has to face this pain, I've put together this blog to help raise money for canine cancer research.
This way there will always be a furry, friendly face on the other end of the leash!

Really!?! Did you have to be told this?

Every year I get a new swimming pool for my dogs to play in.  I like the small plastic wading pools mainly because you can repair them with Gorilla Tape and also because their cheap.  So the one I had from last year was picked up by the evil Colorado winds and taken for a ride on the road behind my house.  No amount of tape was going to fix this one.  It was time to get another one.

Taped inside the pool were these warnings.  Really!  Diving?!  Here's your sign!

Can I have a year like his?!

Flying Pig Race Photos - I'm slow both in running and posting!

Arrival at the starting line
Let the rain begin...
And continue....
And continue...on and off until 3 hours in.
Me on the right...passing everyone!
Had to pet one more puppy!
Oh!  Found my mom with the camera!

Mom and I by the river!

This one's just for fun!

MY DOGS LIVE HERE

My two - Summer & Scout

My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
you don't like pets, be on your way.
they share my home, my food, my space
this is their home, this is their place.

You will find dog hair on the floor,
they will alert you're at the door.
they may request a little pat,
a simple "no" will settle that.

It gripes me when I hear you say
"just how is it you live this way?
they smell, they shed, they're in the way.."
WHO ASKED YOU? is all I can say..

They love me more than anyone,
my voice is like the rising sun,
they merely have to hear me say
"C'mon girls, time to go and play"

then tails wag and faces grin,
they bounce and hop and make a din.
They never say "no time for you",
they're always there, to GO and DO.

and if I'm sad? They're by my side
and if I'm mad? they circle wide
and if I laugh, they laugh with me
they understand, they always see.

so once again, I say to you
come visit me, but know this too..
My dogs live here, they're here to stay.
you don't like pets, be on your way.
they share my home, my food, my space
this is their home, this is their place..

Flying Pig Expo - Pigfest!

Race Expo - Those Cincy folks love their P-I-G-S!  This was a great race from the very beginning.  Very organized and lots of things for you to look at.  Pigs, pigs, everywhere!

My mom and I spent the Saturday before the race at the expo.  She's only been to one other expo and is still not used to them.  She wanted to buy shirts, shoes, capris - and I had to tell her you don't buy those items at the expo!  You buy race souvenirs and that's it.

We both spent entirely too much money on race stuff. I picked up a nice men's jacket (no women's available) for half off at $60. The race packet included a shirt, backpack and a poster. Not bad for a $100 entry (early entry at that).

My mom and I

I think I'll save this one for her birthday card!

My mom getting treated for her PF.  She thought it was a good idea to spend 6 hours mowing barefoot using a tractor.  She went barefoot so she wouldn't get a tan line!  They taped her foot and recommended she wear the tape for at least 48 hours.  She wore it for 3 days.  And her foot still hurts.

The race went GREEN this year.  All coupons were removed from the packet and made available online instead. Nifty idea!  Loved this solar pig.  Too cool.

So my mom had to have food after all of that walking and it was time for my pre-race meal.  So off to Rock Bottom for the Chicken Mac n Cheese for me.  Mom chose the Chicken Parmesan.  Only a 40 minute wait so photo op!  Lovely park with music playing.  I could have done with a few less baseball fans.  Nice time with my mom though.  Then off to bed!

Took practice to get this picture - like three tries!

Race recap to follow!

Happy First Birthday Summer!

Hello everyone!  I had to take a break from race recovery, work, laundry - return from vacation activities - to celebrate my Rottie's first birthday.  Summer's birthday was actually on Friday, but her cake from Wag 'n Wash wasn't ready last night so we celebrated it today.  As with any first birthday, you must have lots of funny pictures - especially tons with a funny hat!

Get this thing O-F-F of my head!

Yummy cake (for dogs so I didn't try any)!

Are you ever going to take this thing off?!  I want CAKE!

I'm only tolerating this thing for you MOMMY!

Can I have it?!  Can I have it NOW please?!

This was as close as I could let Summer get to the cake.  Everytime I slid it near her, she moved like she was going to run off with the whole thing.  So this is her picture with her cake....good enough for me!  She shared her cake with Scout and still left enough for another piece tomorrow.  I'm such a good mommy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG GIRL!  MOMMY LOVES YOU!
